Locks snapping is a technique which burglars commonly use in order to break into houses with UPVC / aluminium or composite doors. Anti-Snap locks are constructed to protect against this method of attack.

If a house has ‘standard’, basic euro-cylinder locks, burglars can essentially snap the cylinder lock inside the UPVC door.  Once the lock is broken, they can remove the lock from the door and gain entry to the house.

This technique is also called lock ‘staffing’.

Most people have never heard of anti-snap locks but more than a quarter of burglaries show that the perpetrator used lock-snapping techniques to break into a property.  Clearly, it makes sense to fit anti-snap locks.
